Hello bar did not work for me

A months and a half ago I installed HelloBar, I believe on a recommendation from Andrew Warner of Mixergy.  I installed it on both this blog and JargonDatabase.com.  I had high hopes for it but got almost no traffic to my main site from it.  In retrospect, this is not surprising.  Traffic to either site comes in from Google as a specific inquiry, with no native interest in Stronico itself.  It is to be expected that my beta offer was not met with enthusiasm.

New sites galore – all about brainpower, StartUps, and Jargon

As part of my community and marketing efforts, I have either created or reworked three new sites this week.  They are

  1. TopNotchBrain.com – use positive psychology, modern brain insights, and neurological research to maximize your brain power.  I hope to make it the ToolMonger of Brain Hacking by having book and software reviews, descriptions of techniques, field experiments, and at some point video interviews.  If anyone would like to contribute content to that site please contact me.

The Five Whys meet the Five Whats

HoodedPeople like to use the Five Whys of Toyota to diagnose problems (in deductive fashion).  I  use the 5 Whats to explain what I do for a living, Stronico, and my music.  Which version you get depends on what I think your subject matter expertise happens to be.  For my consulting company the 5 Whats are:

The Turner Rule in Marketing and Branding

good timesOver the years I have met many alumni of the Turner Empire (CNN/Turner Broadcasting/Turner Enterprises/WCW/TBS/Braves/Hawks, etc) and most of them have told me some version of the following story.

[Setup - In the early days of CNN and Turner Broadcasting Ted Turner would prowl his office building and drop in unannounced into random meetings.   One day he walked into a meeting where people were planning a cross-channel week-long special on dinosaurs] Continue reading “The Turner Rule in Marketing and Branding” »
